Who can join: Youth membership of the Beaver Colony is open to boys and girls aged 6 to 8.
Where and When: There are Beaver Colonies at all Groups in the District, please see Group pages for details. Uniform: Beaver Scout uniform consists of : Group Scarf, Beaver Sweatshirt (and / or Polo Shirt), Dark Trousers (Not jeans), Black Socks, Black Shoes. Badges are normally supplied by the Group and will be issued during the enrolment ceremony, which should take place between four and six weeks after your son or daughter joins the Colony. Uniform is required for all meetings , and is available from the Scout Shop at the Weir View HQ on Saturday Mornings between 09:30 and 12:00. Adults: There are a number of adults involved in the running of the Beaver Colonies. Each new adult helper is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check before commencing work with the Group. All existing leaders complete a performance review (which includes a repeat of the CRB check) every five years. Costs: Subscription charges vary, but are typically of the order of £25 per term. |
