Go Karting
Who can join:
Youth membership of the Scout Section is open to boys and girls aged 10½ to 14. Under some circumstances a child may start Scouts at 10 years of age. Similarly transfer to the Explorer Section can take place any time after the age of 13½. There are no religious, racial or cultural barriers to membership.

Activities: Each Scout Troop's activity programme is different, and most vary significantly from year to year. Core activities include camping, hiking, climbing, water and air activities and Scout badgework.

Where and When: There are Scout Troops at all Groups in the District, please see Group pages for details.

Uniform: Scout uniform consists of : Group Scarf, Scout shirt (and / or Polo Shirt), Dark Trousers (Not jeans), Black Socks, Black Shoes; (Sea & Air Scout uniforms vary: consult the Groups for details). Badges are normally supplied by the Group and will be issued during the enrolment ceremony, which should take place between four and six weeks after your son or daughter joins the Troop. Uniform is required for all meetings and is available from the Scout Shop at the Weir View HQ on Saturday Mornings between 09:30 and 12:00.

Adults: Each new adult helper is subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check before commencing work with the Group, and Leaders complete a performance review (which includes a repeat of the CRB check) every five years. 

All staff are volunteers. There is always room for new adult helpers, on a regular or occasional basis. Full training will be provided.

Costs: Subscription charges vary, but are typically of the order of £30 per term.
